Biography

Hon. Elijah Alier Kuai serves as the Managing Director of the South Sudan Media Authority, where he oversees licensing, accreditation of journalists, media entity registration, and regulation of the media space to uphold standards, ethics, and freedom of expression.

In addition to this, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Communication Authority (NCA), bringing his regulatory expertise and media-governance experience to the broader communications sector.

His work includes advocating for responsible journalism amid the challenges of misinformation, advancing accreditation systems to identify and protect professional journalists, launching digital platforms for transparency, and ensuring that regulatory frameworks adapt to emerging issues such as artificial intelligence. His dual roles enable him to help align media regulation with telecommunications governance to support a more robust, accountable, and accessible communications landscape in South Sudan.

She is a civil society activist affiliated with Defy Hate Now, as well as a co-founder of GO-GIRLS-ICT Initiative which works with female university students in creating functional embedment of ICT in their daily life. Yine holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
