By allocating, licensing, and monitoring spectrum resources, the Authority supports reliable telecommunications, broadcasting, and emerging technologies while minimizing interference and promoting innovation.
About Spectrum Management
Overview
The National Communication Authority (NCA) is mandated under the National Communication Act, 2012 to manage, plan, and administer the radio frequency spectrum in South Sudan. The radio spectrum is a finite and valuable national resource that enables wireless communications, broadcasting, and a wide range of essential services.
NCA ensures efficient and equitable allocation of spectrum resources to support national development goals, promote competition, and prevent harmful interference. The Authority maintains the National Table of Frequency Allocations (NTFA) in accordance with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radio Regulations and regional agreements.
Spectrum management activities include frequency planning, assignment, coordination, monitoring, and enforcement. South Sudan holds two geostationary orbital slots, which are coordinated internationally through the ITU.

Failure to comply with spectrum terms may result in penalties, revocation of frequency assignments, or legal action as per the National Communications Inspection, Monitoring and Enforcement Regulations 2016.
