About Licensing

Overview

The National Communication Authority (NCA) is mandated under section 8 and 9(c) of the National Communication Act, 2012 to license all communication systems and services.


In exercise of this mandate, the Authority is guided by the relevant legislation, including the National Communication Act, 2012, NCA Regulations of 2016 on: licensing, dispute resolution, competition, frequency, numbering, interconnection, tariffs, postal services, inspection and enforcement, standards and type approvals.


In addition, the authority has developed various NCA guidelines to aid its regulatory oversight.

Note: 

Failure to comply with license terms may result in penalties, suspension, or revocation of the license as per the National Communications Inspection, Monitoring and Enforcement Regulations 2016.
